3 dead in apparent New Market murder-suicide, including infant

Deputies: Girl, 5, escaped to neighbor's house

NEW MARKET, Md. —Frederick County authorities are investigating what they called an apparent murder-suicide that left two parents and an infant dead in New Market on Wednesday.

Frederick County sheriff's deputies said they received a call at 8:15 p.m. reporting a shooting in the 6800 block of Woods Court.
Deputies said a father, a mother and an infant boy were found fatally shot inside a home.
The couple's 5-year-old daughter escaped to a neighbor's house, where authorities were notified, deputies said.
The names of those who were killed have not being released yet.
Neighbors said they don't know what to make of the incident.
"I'm confused, I guess. I don't know how anybody could do that, especially to a baby. That's ridiculous. There's nothing a baby could have done to deserve anything. Nobody would deserve that, but especially a baby," one neighbor told 11 News.
The medical examiner in Baltimore is expected to conduct autopsies on the victims on Thursday.
Frederick County Child Protective Services is currently handling the custody of the 5-year-old girl.
