Woman slams into state trooper's cruiser on Route 152

JOPPA, Md. —A car slammed into a state trooper's cruiser early Saturday morning, injuring two troopers investigating an armed robbery.
Troopers Zachary Shelley and David Stanley were investigating an armed robbery at the Royal Farms store on Mountain Road at Franklinville Road in the Joppa area shortly after 2:30 a.m.
State police said Shelley had moved his unmarked patrol car with emergency lights activated into the southbound lane of Mountain Road to protect crime scene evidence.
Around 4 a.m., police said Trina Emory, 32, of Edgewood, slammed into the back of the cruiser with Shelley inside, state police said. Stanley was outside of the cruiser and jumped down an embankment to avoid getting hit.
Shelley was taken to Shock Trauma and Stanley was taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. Both were treated and released.
Emory was taken to Shock Trauma for treatment. Her condition was not immediately known.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Nothing has been ruled out and charges are pending, police said.
In the robbery the troopers were investigating, a preliminary investigation indicated two men robbed the Royal Farms store of cigarettes and an undetermined amount of cash. Police said one of the men was believed to have been armed with a handgun, and that the men sprayed some sort of chemical agent inside the store.
No one was injured during the robbery. No arrests have been made.
