Kwaku Wiredu apologized to victims saying it was an accident and he denied driving drunk, but the jurors believe he was impaired.
A Baltimore City man will spend the next seven years in prison for a drunken driving crash that seriously injured an Army veteran.
Kwaku Wiredu received a 15-year sentence with eight years of that suspended during a hearing on Monday. He must also pay $150,000 to Jimmy Poleto's family.
A jury in November found Wiredu guilty of second-degree assault, driving while impaired by alcohol, causing a life-threatening injury while impaired by alcohol and several other charges.
Prosecutors said Wiredu was intoxicated when his car crossed the center line of Harford Road and hit Poleto's motorcycle last year.
Poleto spent three months in a coma with a brain injury and broken bones.
