Officials: Child caregiver in Harford County faces abuse charges

Officials: Kaitlin Krause, 24, facing child abuse charges

A 24-year-old child care worker is facing abuse charges after she allegedly assaulted a 3-year-old girl in her car, Harford County Sheriff's Office said.

Around 12:45 p.m. on Dec. 30, sheriff's deputies were called to the Celebree Learning Center at 1517 Rock Spring Road in Forest Hill for a report of an employee allegedly assaulting a 3-year-old girl.
Authorities said the child's parents told deputies that the child was reported to have suffered a scratch to the face caused by Kaitlin Marie Krause.
When the parents asked the child about the injury the child told her parents the employee who she referred to as "Miss Kaitlyn" had grabbed her face.
Detectives with the Harford County Child Advocacy Center reviewed the business's surveillance video provided to police by Celebree, which showed the child being grabbed and thrust into a wooden chair.
Her face was grabbed, causing a laceration to the child's cheek, and with enough force to whip the child's head backwards. The child was also pushed from the chair to the floor.
Krause, who lives in Belcamp, was arrested and charged on Monday with child abuse, second-degree assault and neglect.
She was taken before a District Commissioner where she was released after posting a $5,000 bond.
