Woman killed, 2 injured in Baltimore triple shooting

Teen girl in critical condition, man in stable condition, police say

BALTIMORE —A woman was killed and two other people were hospitalized after a home invasion and triple shooting in south Baltimore on Tuesday night.

Police said someone walked into a home around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 3800 block of Eighth Street in Brooklyn and shot a woman, a 16-year-old girl and a 22-year-old man.
The woman, identified as Johnice Sheppard, 21, was taken to an area hospital, where she died, police said.
The other two victims were taken to area hospitals, where the man was listed in stable condition on Wednesday. Police said the teen girl was in critical condition.
"This is the type of case where we need the public's help. Our detectives are doing everything possible. They've been on this case since last night and they're still working the case," Baltimore City police Detective Brandon Echevarria said.
As detectives continue to look for clues in the shooting, neighbors are still reliving it. Kelly Harris, a neighbor, called it a chaotic and frightening scene.
"I don't understand why would somebody would do something like that," Harris said.
Harris said a man ran outside yelling at neighbors for help moments after the shooting.
"They go running across the street and he's yelling, 'My brother's baby's mother has been shot,' and the next thing you know they went in there and it's not just one, it's two females that were shot," Harris said.
"(It's) not very safe, so close and having small children, it's kind of scary," said Angela Hackley, a neighbor.
Some neighbors said they're on edge over the shooting while others, including Harris, said a lot of teens would congregate at the victim's house but there was something that stuck out in Harris' mind recently.
"I do recall a male was out here and the mother who lives there was telling him to stay away and then the next thing you know, this all happened," Harris said.
Police would not comment on a possible motive, saying the case is under investigation.
Anyone who knows anything about the shooting is asked to call police at 410-396-2100410-396-2100.
