Laurel woman robbed in front of children

Police: Woman was walking up apartment stairs when approached

LAUREL, Md. —A Laurel woman was robbed just outside her apartment in front of her children, Anne Arundel County police said.

The woman told police she and her children were walking up the apartment's stairwell in the 100 block of Lauren Drive just after 9:30 p.m. Saturday when a man approached them with a gun and demanded her purse.

Police said the woman complied, and the robber then fled. No one was hurt.

The only description police could get of the culprit was that he was a black man wearing a light gray sweatshirt, a black backpack and a face mask.
