Victims found on Silopanna Road, President Street
Police in Annapolis are investigating two separate armed robbery shootings in the past 24 hours.
Police were first called to the unit block of Silopanna Road around 10 p.m. Monday, where they found Brett Shumaker, 32, of Harwood, sitting on the roadway. Shumaker told them he had been walking on a footbridge in the area when two men approached him and demanded he hand over his belongings.
Shumaker told police that one of the men had a gun and one had a knife. He said he started to fight with the man with the knife, and that's when he heard the gun go off and realized he'd been shot several times.
Shumaker was taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore, where he is expected to survive. Police said they canvassed the area but weren't able to find the culprits.
Anyone with information in the case is urged to call detectives at 410-268-9000, extension 7209.
