Several vehicles collide on Route 100 in Pasadena; 1 dead

Cement truck, cars collide near Waterford Road overpass
PASADENA, Md. —A man was killed and others were injured when five vehicles and a cement truck collided on Route 100 in Anne Arundel County on Tuesday afternoon.

The vehicles collided around 3:15 p.m. on eastbound Route 100 near the Waterford Road overpass in Pasadena.
Preliminary reports indicated that the cement mixer truck failed to stop with traffic and hit one vehicle from behind, causing a chain reaction of crashes. Police said the cement truck landed on top of one of the cars, killing the driver inside, who was identified Wednesday as Scott Johnston, 54, of Pasadena.
Police identified four other victims who suffered minor injuries as Alexis Gibson, 20, of Glen Burnie; Robert Clickner, 30, of Pasadena; Laura Lynn Taylor, 47, of Pasadena; and Cathleen Benson, 61, of Jessup.
One of those people was taken to Baltimore Washington Medical Center for treatment, but it's unclear which person.
Police said the cause appears to be driver error on behalf of the cement truck's driver, identified Wednesday as Taylor Lee Russell, 70, of Owings Mills. He wasn't injured.
Police said they do not believe excessive speed was a factor in the crash.  There was also no suspicion of alcohol and/or drug impairment.
Officials closed the roadway for a while during the investigation, which is ongoing.
