Fatal crash closes EB Route 40 in Edgewood

Few details released so far in Wednesday morning crash


EDGEWOOD, Md. —Harford County police are investigating a fatal crash in Edgewood.

The crash was reported shortly after 6 a.m. Wednesday on eastbound Route 40.
11 News traffic reporter Sarah Caldwell said all lanes of eastbound Route 40 are closed between West Shore Drive and Sandpebble Drive, and at least one westbound lane is closed.
Sky Team 11 video showed several emergency vehicles at the scene. Capt. Roy Taylor said at least two vehicles were involved in the crash. 
There's no word yet on what caused the crash or if anyone else was injured.
Drivers might want to take Philadelphia Road or Interstate 95 as alternates until the scene is cleared. Taylor said a detour was set up in the area.
