BEL AIR, Md. —Bel Air police are rallying behind one of their own after she was struck by a vehicle last month in Harford County.

Officer Kayhla Hendren, of Bel Air, was run over by a car on Nov. 20 as she was directing traffic at the scene of a kitchen fire along West Broadway near Nichols Street in Bel Air.
A police spokesman told 11 News that Hendren was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore. She was released on Nov. 24 but is still undergoing treatment for a broken leg and torn ankle ligaments, as well as ongoing vision problems that were caused by the crash.
Officials said the car that hit Hendren did stop at the scene.
Hendren is a six-year veteran of the Bel Air police force. She's also a second-generation police officer.
