1 dead in triple stabbing at Baltimore strip club

Investigators say argument led to attack that injured 2 others
BALTIMORE —Baltimore police are investigating a triple-stabbing at a strip club on The Block early Sunday morning that killed a 19-year-old and injured another teen.

Police are wondering what the underage pair was doing in the over-21 club to begin with.
Officers were called to The 2 O'Clock Club on East Baltimore Street at about 1:30 a.m. Police said a fight broke out between a group of men, and one of them took out a knife and stabbed three others before running away.
Jesse Clark-Nugent, 19, was found in the club with multiple stab wounds, police said. He was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he later died.
Investigators said two other victims were also found in the club. One 30-year-old man suffered a wound to his neck, while a 17-year-old boy had a wound to the torso. They were treated at area hospitals and were expected to recover.
The assailant was described as a black man who is about 6 feet 1 inch tall. He was wearing a dark-colored shirt.
"Ambulances, police cars -- they responded pretty quick," said Michael Gates, the manager of The Diamond Lounge, which is across the street. "People were in and out of the club. Police took control and gathered everybody and escorted them off The Block and away from the scene."
"There's always crazy stuff going on down here, but that's a little extra crazy," said one woman, who didn't want to be identified.
Maryland law stipulates that patrons must be 21 or older to enter a strip club.  Police are trying to figure out why the underage victims were there.
"We want to know why a 17-year-old was in the club. We also want to figure out how a weapon got into the club. Hopefully this will all come out in the investigation," said police detective Jeremy Silbert.
"Security at my club is going to always be tight. We always card people that come in, and we always pat people down. We don't even play with that," Gates said of his club.
Police are investigating and interviewing witnesses at the scene to figure out what started the fight and identify and track down the stabber.
"There were several people inside of the club when this happened. Investigators are interviewing those individuals; however, we would ask that anyone else that was in the club or in the area of the club, if you saw anything -- if you saw an individual running from the scene -- we ask that you would please contact police," Silbert said.
Gates said he's surprised something like that happened at The 2 O'Clock Club.
"The club is a good club. They never have any problems, so I don't know what brought it about, but normally that club has tight security and is on top of everything," he said.
Other businesses in the area said incidents like this are a reminder of how important security is.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Baltimore Police Department at 410-396-2100.
